We're back again!

Re-establishment of the Institute for Medical Psychology at the CBBM with a special connection to the Lübeck University of Music.

On February 1, 2024, the Institute of Medical Psychology was brought back to life in a new formation, having previously been part of the Department of Neurology as a teaching department. The institute is located in the rooms of the CBBM on the campus of the University of Lübeck and in the Tesdorpfhaus of the University of Music Lübeck. Prof. Dr. Daniel Scholz, musician and psychologist, has held the bridging professorship for musicians' health between the University and the University of Music since autumn 2022 - a first for the Lübeck university landscape. Prof. Dr. Sarah Jessen (Babylab) and Prof. Dr. Ulrike Krämer (Cognitive Neuroscience) head the institute together with Prof. Daniel Scholz.

Research associates and assistants actively drive the research forward. Among many other questions, they are investigating which factors influence the development of emotion perception in infants, how stress affects the psyche and musical performance of musicians and what the neurobiological basis of empathy is. Students of medicine, psychology and music are taught and conversation skills are practiced with amateur actors.
